He is a fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians and a Diplomate of the American Board of Clinical Metal Toxicology. He is a member of the Texas Medical Association and the Harris County Medical Society. Due to the negative impact on health by toxic wastes and pollution, he was prompted to join the American Academy of Environmental Medicine (AAEM) in 1985. He has been a member of the American College for the Advancement of Medicine (ACAM*) since 1984.
Dr. Battle has served the community as a Rotarian, United Fund Director, as a Director of the Texas Heart Association, and as President of the Bay Area Chapter of the Texas Heart Association. Dr. Joseph Brenner
Dr. Joseph Brenner is a graduate of the Medical School at Tel-Aviv University. He specialized in Internal Medicine and later in oncology at the Chaim Sheba Medical Center, at Tel-Hashomer. He did his fellowship training in the United States, both in Radiation Oncology, at “Rhode Island” Medical Center in Providence Rhode Island and in Medical Oncology (Chemotherapy) at the largest cancer center, Memorial Sloan Kettering in New-York.
Upon his return to Israel, he was approached to establish a cancer unit at the E. Wolfson Medical Center in Holon, which he has been directing since then. Dr. Brenner published about 40 different papers on different issues on oncology and he is a member of various oncology societies in Israel and worldwide.
Over the past 15 years, Dr. Joseph Brenner has combined complementary and alternative methods with conventional cancer treatment methods. In this connection, Dr. Brenner has participated in many seminars, conventions and courses of CAM in Israel and all over the world, received invitations to lecture at many conferences and visited many medical centers all over the world, where they use CAM as a part of the combined treatment of cancer.
About 10 years ago Dr. Brenner established the “New-Hope” Medical Center in Tel-Aviv, in order to avail Israeli cancer patients the use of different treatment methods in their efforts to fight this disease.
“New-Hope” Medical Center for the Treatment of Cancer
“New-Hope” is a medical center for integrative treatments of cancer. In the Center different methods of complementary-alternative medicine (CAM) are used, together with hyperthermia and additional methods given concomitant to conventional oncology treatments.
The center was established by Dr. Joseph Brenner, an Oncologist, who combines CAM methods in the treatment of cancer patients. Dr. Brenner himself had cancer and used these combined methods to treat his disease successfully.
In the “New-Hope” Medical Center, advanced medical equipment is used such as local, deep regional and whole body hyperthermia, galvanotherapy, oxygen therapy, hydrocolon and more.
The “New-Hope” Medical Center is well known all over the world and treats patients from many countries.
The treatments given at the “New-Hope” Medical Center are:
I.V anti-neoplastic remedies
Immune enhancing treatments
The treatments at the “New-Hope” Medical Center are given with the purpose of improving the general well being of the cancer patients and to reduce the symptoms of the disease and the side effects of the conventional treatments, in an effort to ease and change the course of the illness.
Complementary and Alternative Medicine in the Treatment of Cancer (CAM)
Cancer is a complex group of diseases and the cause may be due to many factors. In many cases, cancer is resistant to the existing therapies available in hospitals. The integration of different treatment methods may improve the results of cancer treatments.
Various medical research studies demonstrate that about 80% of patients are informed about the limitations of the treatments offered to them by hospitals and ask for additional help by the use of complementary-alternative medicine.
The aim of treating with CAM is to improve general wellness, to increase the response of the immune system, to reduce the side effects and body damage of chemotherapy and radiation therapy, to improve the quality of life and to improve the results of cancer treatments in order to prolong life and heal patients.
It is recommended to integrate the CAM methods already at the initial phases of the disease and not to wait for disease progression.
The CAM treatments may include: Treatments with special equipment such as galvanotherapy, vitamins, mineral, amino-acids, fatty-acids, hormones, herbs, anti-neoplastic agents, colon irrigation, diet, mind-body therapy and more.
Russ Canfield, MD
As an integrative family physician, I am aware of the physical and biological elements that influence health such as diet, exercise, and nutritional supplements, as well as the internal, felt dimensions of mental, emotional and spiritual health. Both those dimensions exist for us on the individual level, but also on the collective levels of family, community and even the biosphere as a whole. Our physical environment is becoming increasingly toxic and our culture increasingly stressful.
In my successful application essay to the University at Buffalo School of Medicine, I wrote about my commitment to both the art and the science of medicine. I saw how conventional medicine focused on the physical aspects of physical illness, but didn’t seem to appreciate that one’s inner emotions, attitudes and intentions also play a vital role in the cause and cure of physical illness. I became convinced that the healing partnership between patient and physician, acknowledging the patient’s goals and concerns, was as important as the doctor’s knowledge base in anatomy, physiology and pathology. I learned and identified with the “Biopsychosocial Model,” which recognizes not just the physical side of health and disease, but also the psychological, social, and environmental aspects of health.
At the University of New Mexico, I did my residency training in Family Medicine because I was interested in learning all aspects of medicine. I couldn’t see how the body could be divided into specialties. Clearly, the various organ systems are interrelated, and it is important to see the whole. Through my formal post-graduate training from the Institute for Functional Medicine, I have refined my understanding of how genetics, environment and lifestyle interact as a total system. I now diagnose and treat illnesses based on patterns of imbalance and dysfunction, rather than treating the symptoms of the illness specifically. Functional Medicine goes beyond the quick fix of masking symptoms with medication; rather, it treats the unique individual who has the disease.
After ten years of experience in working with patients of all ages, and specializing in this integral, 360° approach to health and well-being, I tend to recommend a foundation of naturopathic therapies and, when indicated, complement them with powerful conventional medical treatments.
I have earned and maintain board certification from both the American Board of Family Medicine and the American Board of Integrative Holistic Medicine. I have further formal training in mindfulness meditation and in transpersonal studies from Naropa University, and am a Certified Diabetes Educator. I am deeply committed to teaching and I take the time to educate my patients. In the past, I was a Clinical Assistant Professor at the UNM School of Medicine, teaching this holistic approach to medical students and residents. I have written for and have been quoted in newspapers and magazines including Natural Health.
During an office visit, we will likely discuss your health concerns on multiple levels and from different perspectives. Some treatments may serve to immediately control the concerning medical symptoms while other strategies may serve to balance both body and mind in a detoxifying and replenishing way. I am accepting new patients who are looking for a holistic primary care physician or just want a 360° Medicine consultation.
LEIGH ERIN CONNEALY, MD
Dr. Connealy attended the University of Texas School of Public Health, and then attended the University of Health Sciences Chicago Medical School. She completed her post-graduate training at the Harbor/UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, California.
Dr. Connealy soon realized that conventional medicine had very limited returns and did not always improve the health of her patients. Her patients were hungry for alternative approaches for improving their health. This led her to study integrative and complementary therapies, and since then she has revolutionized the landscape of medicine. Dr. Connealy feels that we must treat the patient with the disease and not the disease of the patient. She has discovered that many factors contribute to the disease process; therefore, many modalities must be used to reverse it.
Dr. Connealy treats the WHOLE person, and is open to all potential treatment possibilities. She has over twenty years of experience in finding the ‘root cause of an illness’, and has taken numerous advanced courses, including homeopathic, nutritional and lifestyle approaches, while studying disease, chronic illness, and cancer treatments. She has a true passion to change her patients’ lives, and give them their life back.
Dr. Connealy began practicing medicine in 1986. In 1992, she founded the Center for New Medicine in Irvine, California, where she serves as Medical Director. Her practice is firmly based in the belief that strictly treating the health problems with medications does not find the root cause of the illness.

Leading the Way to Better Health
While a standard allopathic physician and before he became boarded as a Homeopathic Physician, for a number of years, he served as the only oncologist in Northern Nevada who would treat cancer patients that also were under the care of an alternative medical physician. From the 1970s through the early 1990s, he observed that patients who were integrating conventional treatments with alternative therapies were doing better. While enjoying a quality of life far superior to patients who received only standard-oncology treatments, these people with cancer had fewer side effects from chemotherapy.
These results convinced Dr. Forsythe that—while conventional medicine had made great strides with chemotherapy drugs targeting specific cancers—so-called standard medical methods lagged behind in keeping the patients’ immune system stimulated. More than 25 years after becoming a certified medical oncologist, in 1995 Dr. Forsythe also earned a homeopathic certificate from the British Institute of Homeopathy. He started the oncology units at all three major hospitals in Reno, Nevada as well as the Veteran’s Hospital Oncology Clinic. He also was the founding father for Reno’s Ronald McDonald House. Most notably he warned of the “Cancer Cluster” in Fallon, Nevada due to high levels of arsenic in the ground water.
